Slimline Whale Tips The Scales

The latest addition to the 130 strong Whale fleet at leading waste tanker hire company GE TIP Tanker Services is a lightweight frameless WhaleVac using newly developed High Strength Low Alloy (HSLA) running gear.

The near half Tonne weight savings will bring significant benefits to the users hiring the vehicle in terms of increased payload and reducing the number of disposal and transfer trips.

The innovative running gear design was the result of a development project between Whale Tankers and GE TIP Tanker Services, in conjunction with a leading Scandinavian steel producer.

The trailer is built to a high specification with fully opening rear door, donkey engine, Mistral series vacuum pump, BPW axles and many other features. Significant further weight reduction is possible for future vehicles where the requirements do not call for such features.

GE TIP Tanker Services European Technical Director, Colin Bell stated “We need to be leading the market with best possible equipment for our customers as well as introducing new and better payload options to increase users bottom line. While payload is important reliability and working life have to be considered and we believe this new design gives us the best of both worlds backed up by a tried and proven manufacturer. All vacuum units in the GE TIP Tanker Services rental fleet are backed by full Whalecare cover to ensure our units are working to optimum efficiency and reliability”

Whale Managing Director, Mark Warmington said “We have shown that through design innovations and working with customers, a considerable weight reduction is possible, while still utilising stainless steel with all its inherent benefits to maintain the quality of the trailer.”
