Pro-Whale Tankers customer, SP Holding of Telford, Shropshire – a leading drainage services, truck and plant hire, and events specialist – has this year invested approximately £1million in additional Whale vehicles, bolstering its fleet size to 58.

With SP Holding having recently revealed a new group structure and corporate identity, the company has taken a hybrid of vehicle types that have been specified to support an everexpanding service offering that continues to set the benchmark when it comes problem solving through innovation.
The latest fleet newcomers are three jetting vans that SP Holding is deploying to support an ongoing contract with Severn Trent Water. Complete with two integral 1000-litre plastic water tanks, the jetters feature the Iveco 6.5 tonne chassis cab.

Another recent fleet addition, a high volume JetVac tanker with overhead loading boom will also be on display. Complete with a Volvo FES 4 x 2 rigid chassis, the 18 tonne GVW vehicle features a 1600-gallon water/sludge tank. Commenting on SP Holding’s ongoing decision to specify Whale, managing director, Steve Holding said: “The Whale product can be summed up in one word – fantastic! They are quite simply
the best that money can buy and their ability to do the job goes without question. Having tried a number of competitor products in the past, in my opinion nothing comes close to Whale, not only in terms of how well engineered the product is, but the back-up that Whale provides. Their engineers are always dropping into check how things are going and they are very pro-active at making suggestions.

“Overall, we enjoy what can best be described as a tremendous relationship with them and we see them continuing to play a major part in our future development,” he added. In addition to this latest vehicle intake, SP Holding has also placed orders for three High Volume Combination (HVC) tankers, a twin pump Kaiser-Whale sewer cleaning Jet-Vac with continuous dirty water recycling, an articulated tanker and the KiloWhale – a high volume jetvac vacuum tanker that is effective for deep sewer cleaning and maintenance. Not surprisingly, half of the diverse SP Holding fleet is Whale, and included within the line-up are vehicles that range from van packs, articulated tankers, rigids, and 2000 and 3000-gallon vacuum tankers, as well as other specialist and highly sophisticated vehicle types.

Commenting on behalf of Whale, Commercial Director, Chris Anderson said: “Over recent years, SP Holding has grown to be a very important Whale customer. We have great respect for Steve and his entire team and we are confident that they will continue to enjoy the growth they are looking achieve in a very short period of time. Steve not only has great vision, he has a proven ability to deliver on propositions and is always
keen to embrace the evolving needs of an ever-changing marketplace.”

Having moved into a new office suite in 2006, the company aims to develop additional buildings onsite into purpose-built training facilities. As Steve states: “We already invest cnsiderable time and effort into training and employee development on-site, and this is something that will form the mainstay of our business moving forward. We are keen to continue developing our skills base and already a enjoy good relationship with local schools and colleges, particularly in relation to driver development via NVQ schemes.”

Under its new Group operating structure, SP Holding incorporates divisions covering commercial, residential, sales and hire and events. From simply dealing with a blocked drain, to installing, emptying and cleaning septic tanks for domestic clients, through to cleaning and removing industrial and commercial pollution, SP Holding offers an extensive range of services including waste tankering, sewer cleansing, high
pressure jetting, CCTV services and much more.

The company’s Sales & Hire Division gives customers access to a huge range of plant, including mini diggers and dumpers, rollers and pumps.
