WHALEVAC BENEFITS FROM INNOVATION THROUGH DESIGN

Posted by Tim Pile - June 22nd, 2011

Continuous innovation in design extends across the entire range of specialist equipment that Whale Tankers manufactures for the waste and cleaning industries, and the company’s highly diverse WhaleVacs are no exception. Respected for embracing appropriate legislation by working hand-in-hand with relevant authorities, Whale’s in-house design team is already progressing with Whole Vehicle Type Approval for WhaleVacs ahead of its introduction in October 2012.

It is a design process that has seen Whale manufacture WhaleVacs that are considerably lighter in their construction, thereby helping customers enjoy the benefits of increased payloads. This is a message that Whale Tankers’ will be promoting at PAWRS, where the company will exhibit two WhaleVacs– one hazardous and one non-hazardous at the show. On the Whale stand in the livery of Midlands-based privately owned specialist waste management and rental company, Bridmin Limited, will be a non-hazardous, frameless tri-axle vacuum tanker.

The neighbouring stand of equally pro-Whale customer – SP Holding of Telford, Shropshire – will feature another frameless vacuum tanker on tri-axle running gear, this time manufactured to ADR Class 3A, 6.1 and 8 specifications to transport hazardous waste. Both rigs are plated to operate at 44-tonne GVW and are constructed from 316-grade stainless steel.

Comments Whale Tankers’ Chief Engineer, Andy Ellis: “The design engineering programme that we have put in place for the WhaleVac has already paid dividends, as not only are we able to offer customers a lighter product that provides greater payload, but one that is more robust and fit for purpose.

For customers looking for versatility, Whale Vacuum Tanker range are purpose-designed and suitable for all types of rigid or semi-trailer chassis, tipping or non-tipping, and frameless semi-trailers. They can be manufactured from stainless steel, carbon steel or have a lining – supplied with and without jetting and capacities matched to GVW across the range.

In addition to promoting its capabilities within the field of tanker design and manufacture, Whale Tankers will also be highlighting the benefits of its acclaimed parts and service operation. On hand to field enquiries will be representatives from sales, parts and service who will show a wide variety of accessories and jetting nozzles, whilst distributing a DVD with videos of nozzles in action.
