Despite the ongoing uncertainties that Covid continues to bring to many businesses, one of the West Midlands’ leading manufacturing operations is thankfully bucking the trend. Having recently launched a major recruitment drive ahead of the year-end, Whale Tankers of Solihull is looking to bolster its workforce by a staggering 100 head count during 2021.

Standing as one of Europe’s largest manufacturers of liquid waste vacuum tankers and jetting equipment, Whale Tankers is renowned, not just in the UK but worldwide, for the quality and innovation of its products.

As Managing Director, Mark Warmington comments: “Whale Tankers is an extremely forward thinking, progressive and innovative manufacturing company and we are looking for like minded people to help shape the company’s future.

“With a manufacturing heritage that now spans 50 years, we are looking to attract skilled individuals who want to share in the company’s long-term vision for the future. The company has always enjoyed an unprecedented reputation when it comes to employee retention and boasts an 11-year average service record period.

“Whale Tankers enjoys an extremely healthy order book, and one that was already in place before the emergence of Covid. The new positions are therefore being created to ensure that we are able to meet not just the demand for our products and services today, but in the future, and across an ever-expanding number of global markets,” he adds.

Joining an existing UK workforce of 260, all of the new positions will be based at Whale Tankers Ravenshaw manufacturing site, which is located adjacent to junction 5 off the M42. The positions that Whale Tankers is looking to fill at the site initially are predominantly for fabricators, fitters and welders.

As Mark Warmington injects: “Our world class manufacturing facility located at Ravenshaw, an oasis in itself, is currently undergoing a major expansion and investment programme named Vision 22. Representing the largest investment undertaken by Whale Tankers, the programme centres on a series of phased site expansion projects that are being dovetailed with an exciting and ongoing product development programme designed to further strengthen Whale Tankers’ long-term future. We have created a very special place to work at Ravenshaw, so it is an extremely exciting time for newcomers joining the Whale Tankers team, all of whom will be able to benefit from personal development and progression within the business, whilst enjoying the opportunities an ongoing educational and training and programme will deliver.”
